I/O Software Inc., a leading authentication software provider announced today that it has integrated its SecureSuite XS ® product line with M-Systems’ DiskOnKey devices powered by the Smart DiskOnKey platform. The DiskOnKey is the leading USB flash drive device powering major brands offered by HP, IBM, I-O Data and others.
This new integration enables users to use the USB flash drives they already carry with them as an authentication device, much like a smart card or any other authentication token, while still using it as a portable data storage device. The USB flash drive can also be combined with biometrics for a higher level of security. For example, to log on, users can simply plug the USB flash drive into their computer and enter their (optional) PIN. SecureSuite can then be configured to lock the computer when the USB flash drive is removed – an important feature in shared workspace environments with sensitive data.
“We believe that this new integration will open up significant new markets” said Tas Dienes, COO of I/O Software. “Since many people already carry and use USB flash drives, there is a low cost of deployment, and people do not have to put yet another card or key in their pocket or around their neck.”
SecureSuite leverages the storage capabilities of DiskOnKey USB flash drives to store user credentials, such as web site passwords and file encryption keys. The USB flash drive can also be shared by one user across multiple computers or domains. This ensures that wherever you go, your USB flash drive is your universal key to unlocking your computer, as well as web sites and encrypted files.

The DiskOnKey USB flash drive was integrated with SecureSuite through I/O Software’s newly developed Token API (Token Application Program Interface). This enables rapid integration, as well as sharing of common functionality between different authentication devices and applications.
SecureSuite XS is a modular and flexible software platform that replace passwords with more secure and convenient forms of authentication, including biometrics, smart cards, and tokens. SecureSuite applications provide secure system logon, password bank/single sign-on, file encryption, and application locking. Software developers can also leverage SecureSuite’s strong authentication in their own applications via the SecureTec SDK. SecureSuite XS supports Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003, and can be deployed as a stand-alone workstation product or in a client/server environment, using Active Directory.
